Wearing Bins whilst playing football....
Had no game yesterday so watched a bit of kids football whilst out with the hound.. what amazed me was one game where I reckon out of the 22 players + subs I reckon 8 of them were running around wearing Bins... like a team of Harry Potters ... I then had to take some paperwork over the club so decided to pop over and watch a few of the games going on... the Vets game... no bins... the seniors game.. 2 pairs of bins... one of the young blokes wore bins taped to the side of his head… looked a absolute freak… no more so when he climbed like a salmon and thundered home a header from a corner… and his bins exploded into about 10 pieces… Ha ha Ha… bloke got subbed as he never had any spares and could not see... what a bunch of binny freaks...

... now my question is.... why the fuck do people not wear contact lenses when playing football or any other sports??

Blind freaks

Years ago when I played Sunday mornings our goalkeeper wore bins. Apparently they were some sort of safe flexible lens. He taped them on.

Was talking to the optometrist last time I had my eyes checked and she said kids eyes these days are fucked.

Looking at screens all day

Yeah the bloke who had exploding bins had them taped on with what looked like black insulation tape... from a distance they looked like superb Elvis Presley sideburns.... then he got nearer and he just looked a binny freak

NS,

contact lens don't suit all vision types, I have a high astigmatism which means its difficult to get a pair that I can see through clearly. I spent my childhood years playing football in my glasses and was lucky not to have broken any playing.

You'd have made a great leader of an oversight committee during La Terreur, NS.

I had to Google what bins were. It’s like trying to understand my grandad. Makes fuck all sense.

You cant wear glasses playing football unless they are the sports google type.

If you wore glasses playing football when i was playing, you got slaughtered and soon took them off.

As a nation we've gone soft.

Do you attach them to the side of your head with big black strips of black masking tape??

I was* as blind as Nobby Stiles.

Like Nobby, I usually wore contacts when playing, and, when these weren't available, nothing.

My contacts were nowhere near as scary as Nobby's, though.

*before cataract ops, I don't need glasses for distance any more. On the other hand, I've caught up with Nobby in the missing teeth department

I can't avoid all the effects of age, but I'm doing pretty well on several other fronts, all my hair, very few gray ones, still physically fit, playing 3-4 hours of 6-a-side a week against players half my age - excluding one bloke who's even older than me.

Plus a match of 11-a-side for half the year.

Re: Wearing Bins whilst playing football....
The match isn't 6 months long, but I play one normal match a week for half the year...

Yeah you're not allowed to wear glasses under fa rules. Have to wear plastic goggles like Davids.

Giant specy kid, lobbed my son's teams keeper from way out
(U11s) yesterday. It was classy finish to be fair not sure the Opo manager got the joke about the kid having vision though.
